Policies!

~Regarding reserving kits, breeder’s rights, privacy, and more~ | Jenna Luikart
Please note that however unnecessary some of these guidelines seem, we feel that all of these policies should at least be brought up to ensure quality homes for our rabbits.
These policies are also meant to give our buyers an idea of what to expect from our rabbitry and our animals. As we go along in our endeavor, note that this book will change accordingly as we see some policies redundant or see new policies are needed. None of these rules are meant to offend or ward off buyers, but rather are safety precautions and warnings so no offense or complaints are needed. It’s simple with this list; agree or disagree. It is because of this list that we don’t need contracts, after all! Also, not all of these policies are needed in all situations. They are just put up as a general, polite warning. For instance, since the farm visitation is rare, it’s listed, but it probably won’t be needed until (or if) it is. If you’re looking at an adult we have at a local swap meet, you can freely disregard the meet-up, reservation, and farm visit policies unless you rather pick them up at a later date.
Feel free to browse our policies, the permanent and frequently needed ones first and the essentially “further reading” policies listed second!
Regarding reserving unborn/under age kits and kits from future breedings
For unborn/under age kits, the buyer must provide a non-refundable cash deposit of half the kit’(s’) worth (Ex. $15 dollars due to reserve a $30 kit). The other half will be due at the pickup location when the kit is old enough to go to its new home.
If the reserved kit dies before pickup but after payment or a chosen gender from an unborn litter does not appear, the buyer will have several options.
The buyer with a reservation will have two (2) weeks to pick up their reserved kit after the eight (8) week mark or else the kit will be listed as unsold, the deposit will be terminated, and will be available for anyone to purchase for the full price. We will gladly work with the buyer’s schedule if they need us to, but if they do not inquire about picking up their reserved kit after it turns 10 weeks old, it will be put back up for sale.
*[1]Regarding special ordering a kit from a chosen sire and dam
If a buyer sees a certain buck/doe pairing they would want a kit out of, they can contact us and we can breed the two specific rabbits together. The buyer must reserve at least two kits from this litter at half the price of each kit they reserve (Ex. $15 each for $30 rabbits or $30 each for two $60 rabbits). If the buyer backs out after breeding and after paying the non-refundable deposit, their deposit will be terminated as an unsold reserved kit would be. Reservation is otherwise the same as above statement.
Regarding Breeder’s Rights
Our breeder has all rights to retain or deny sale of any rabbits at any time desired, even if they are already reserved. This includes denying the sale of a rabbit if the breeder believes the home is unsuitable, the buyer's pets or children are unsuitable, or if the breeder just makes a last minute decision to keep a kit to preserve a bloodline. In the event of retaining or denying sale of a reserved rabbit, then and only then will the buyer be returned their money or be given a credit of the same value with BSAR.
Regarding pricing
The pricing on our stock is based on age, gender, breed, and bloodline and fluctuates with market, feed costs, diesel/gasoline costs to buy feed and meet buyers for rabbits, and age of the rabbit being sold.
Our younger stock is cheaper than our older stock because of feed consumption, presumably. The price goes up three times after the age of availability and rests at the kit’s adult price, waged determined of the breeder. This is why we do not accept attempts at haggling with our prices. This insults the quality of our animals, the attempts of the breeder, and the animals themselves. We price things certain ways for certain reasons. If you cannot accept that, then you may take your business elsewhere. Again, do not attempt to ask lower on our pricing unless you truly believe our stock is priced too high for the quality and are not trying to save a quick buck (no pun intended).
Regarding Returns
If a rabbit must be returned to BSAR for whatever reason, the owner will not be offered a refund. They will have an option to trade their rabbit for another of similar worth or have a credit with BSAR of the rabbit’s original price during purchase, but owner will not be granted a refund for said rabbit(s).
BSAR will also not be responsible for any aggression issues of sold rabbits after they arrive in their new home, as we do not have any issues with them here and if we do, the rabbits will be culled (ate), not sold. We do not re-home any aggressive animal, be it rabbits, roosters, ducks, ECT. We also do not breed any aggressive animal unless their kits are intended for consumption. As brisk as it sounds, aggression is considered fault of the new owners by BSAR or from unseen/distant hereditary relatives and we will not be blamed for aggressive animals, especially if they are the only aggressive kit out of their litter.
Regarding Breeds
If we buy a rabbit, we will assume it is the breed the seller claims it is. If it is a crossbreed, we will assuredly know. We will also price differently within each breed depending on animal quality. For instance, out of our New Zealands, we will ask a bit more out of our better bred does (EX. Redline and Diesel) than we will from our lesser quality, meat strain does (Astra and Denali).
Regarding Pedigrees
If we have 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd+ generation rabbits, we will provide the buyer with pictures of all known rabbits in their heritage. If there were line breedings in the pedigree, we will make it known. Sadly, we only have one line of rabbits we’ve had since their grandparents so far, but we’re working on building up!
Regarding Butchering and Culling
Please note that we also support and encourage raising meat rabbits and other livestock at home, and that we process our own livestock for consumption, too. We highly respect our animals, and regard our breeders as pets themselves. However, if we see an animal better off culled than suffering a miserable life somewhere it will not be loved, we will cull it. This includes any and all aggressive kits! Personally, we believe it is better to cull rabbits than sell them just for their owners to set them loose in a park or send them to shelters. At least their meat will be thankfully used and will not go to waste. There are seriously starving people in the world who would be glad to use all the wasted meat, after all. Note: we do not generally cull nice, gentle pet-quality kits, but instead we list them as “pet-only”. Spaying and neutering of these pets is encouraged but not necessary.
We also do not jump down the throats of anti-breeder activists, so we expect that you mind your manners and do the same for us. We are not animal abusers, we don’t “murder” them brutally until they die, and we don’t sell our stock to beagle hunters for training beagles. We are grateful for every little life we bring into the world to feed our family. There are truly fates worse than death; starvation, sickness, prolonged heat or cold exposure. Again, rudeness and slandering will not be accepted by any means from any “society” or group! Coming over just to rat us out will only grant you a block and a ban.
Regarding meet-up pickups
When a meet-up is decided, we will work with you to the best of our capabilities on dates and location. Please regard the fact that we drive a diesel Ram and diesel prices are fairly high at the moment. Also remember that the breeder you will be meeting isn’t driving yet, and relies on other family to get her places in the said truck. Not only must we work on your time, but the drivers’ times and fuel prices, too. If something comes up, we will reschedule to a better date. Just keep in touch! If you drop off for more than two weeks without any warning or decide against the rabbit, it will be put back up for sale, as previously stated.
If you live a few miles out of our traveling distance but really want our rabbits, please consider meeting us closer (I.E, you live in Spencer, WV but meet us in Ripley, WV). Also, if you have a transporter or have plans to pass by our way during traveling, let us know! We will be happy to work with this.
Sometimes, we travel to unordinary places we would normally not consider going to pick up or drop off rabbits when we go around on farm calls to goat farms. When we do, we have no problem meeting in your area on these special dates only. We’ll just pop your rabbit in a crate and bring him along! Just be sure to contact us with your interest and we’ll let you know if we have plans for your general area any time soon.
Regarding Farm Visits
This isn’t a common thing we do, but if circumstances are preferred, we will ask you to pick up a rabbit at our farm. If you visit our farm, please follow the following rules. Failure to follow rules will result in a polite escort off our property.
PERSONAL POLICIES
Regarding Contact
We very much enjoy replying to comments and PMs—when civility and courtesy is used. We will not tolerate rude behavior, inappropriate language, slandering, or accusations. We try to be as polite and sweet to everybody, but if you come to us in a bad mood, you will be blocked and banned. If you post a rude or inappropriate comment on a picture or post of ours, you will be blocked and banned. If you behave rudely to another person, you will be blocked and banned. You can be honest without being mean or brutal. Curse words, cursing our Good Savior, or slamming others will never be accepted, and your comment will be deleted and you will assuredly be blocked and banned!
Also note that we are a proud Christian family owned rabbitry and it is run by an 18 year old girl who’s been farming her whole life. We have our views and will try to respect your views as well. There will be no clashing of religions and we will all be treated equally. After all, we’re here to sell you rabbits and you’re here to buy them.
Regarding leaving reviews
When leaving a review, please be honest about your experience. We encourage any sort of review, positive or negative; be it about a previous or recent visit, a meet-up, or even just a positive conversation about future relations and purchases (I.E “We’re excited to be buying a rabbit off of Blue Sky Action very soon! The people were very kind and helpful.”). But if you feel like it was a personal issue with our breeder, especially over something simple as a disagreement, please resolve this via PM! We openly accept any people with issues with us so long as they are telling the truth about a negative experience and we strive to clear up any disagreements or misunderstandings. But negative experiences regarding personal issues and business (not involving our rabbits or set-up) don’t belong in public polluting our reputation or yours (I.E, if you had an issue with our views, religion, something we said, ETC)! It is unprofessional and rude, and also unaccepted.
Regarding Future Relations
If you buy one of our rabbits, we will try our best to keep in contact with you throughout the life of your animal. We will answer any questions you might have regarding anything, be it raising rabbits, color genetics, and behavioral concerns, about our sold rabbit or any of your other rabbits you might have, from our farm or not. We might also be interested in something from our sold rabbit in the future, or taking the rabbit back if you need to find it a new home. We will also try to find a new home for the rabbit even if we can’t take it back. If you have doubts about the quality or health of your rabbit from us, however, please privately contact us with courteous behavior and we will do everything we can to assist your issue.
If you have further questions, please contact breeder Jenna Luikart at

- They can choose another same priced kit
- They can have a credit with BSAR towards their next purchase ($15 off another rabbit, adult or kit)
Audra and Denali) than we will from our lesser quality, meat strain does (Astra and Sierra).
If you live a few miles out of our travelling distance but really want our rabbits, please consider meeting us closer (I.E, you live in Spencer, WV but meet us in Ripley, WV). Also, if you have a transporter or have plans to pass by our way during travelling, let us know!
- Do not feed any animals without permission
- Do not open any pens or cages without permission
- Spray any and all footwear with Lysol or disinfectant before leaving vehicle
- No pets of any kind
- Please keep children supervised at all times
- Inhumane treatment or abuse of our animals (hitting, kicking, chasing, ECT) will result in a very brisk escort off our farm and will in no means ever be tolerated.
